MARKET RESEARCH BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Job Description

We are looking to expand our Business Development department for our growing, innovative market research firm. Your mission is to leverage relationships, knock down doors, and get in front of potential clients who may benefit from our research solutions, then close the sale and monitor progress to ensure all client expectations are met or exceeded. You will be responsible for building a book of business of new and lapsed accounts and nurturing them to continued growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leverage our competitive advantages and product news to gain prospect attention of prospects and create / maintain an active sales pipeline
  • Develop and present customized solutions based on identified prospect needs
  • Define client research objectives, develop study approaches, and generate client proposals
  • Nurture existing clients, identify new opportunities within them and grow their business
  • Actively participate in trade shows and networking events and contribute to marketing strategies and execution
  • Work collaboratively with the internal research teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years successful outside sales experience calling on savvy corporate clients, including creating and identifying business opportunities and developing, winning, and building business
  • 5+ years of market research experience (preferred), or at a minimum, 5+ years of marketing strategy, branding, or innovation experience relevant to our product line
  • Familiarity with the language and fundamentals of marketing and innovation, especially for consumer products, and market research methodologies
  • Strong presentation and communication skills essential – ability to present proposals, capabilities and research offerings and answer client questions
  • A willingness to travel as needed (estimated at 20-25%)
  • Preferred candidates will have: 1) proven ability to gain attention and close sales without relying on being the market leader, and/or 2) offer extra value via existing relationships and/or ability to penetrate new industries
